Plane tickets for CZK 1 to become history soon

The airfare will have to comprise only items related to the ticket, so the fuel surcharge will be a part of it, unlike airport taxes and fees.By mid-year, the European Parliament is likely to issue a new regulation changing, among other things, the conditions for quoting air ticket prices. The original proposal that only complete prices be quoted did not make it through the parliament last year, but European MPs then agreed on a compromise with the European Council.

„The airfare will have to comprise only items related to the ticket, so the fuel surcharge will be a part of it, unlike airport taxes and fees,“Tomio Okamura, a presidium member at the Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents of the Czech Republic (AČCKA), told Respekt.cz.

But he added the politicians had found a smart solution. „The price determined in this way will have to be quoted at every moment, as they say. The client will therefore always see the price and other fees together,“ he said. The regulation should take effect in all EU member countries immediately after it gets a go-ahead from the European Parliament.

A successful campaign

Plane tickets for a few crowns, or even with a negative price tag, will disappear from posters, billboards and banners. „This is false advertising. The Spanish national air carrier has been taken to court because of that. Our airlines do that too,“…
